Job Description
- Tiko is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Consultant to join our collaborative and supportive Communications team. This Nairobi-based role requires expertise in marketing and corporate communications to craft meaningful content that resonates with diverse audiences. The successful candidate will play a critical role in amplifying Tiko’s mission and values by organizing events, supporting global New Business Development efforts, and engaging key stakeholders. This role is integral to fostering impactful partnerships with governments, philanthropic organizations, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Scope of Work
- Communications Strategy Development
- Support and contribute to the development of Tiko’s corporate communications strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic and fundraising goals.
- Ensure consistent messaging across branding, social media, and print/digital platforms, adapting to evolving communication trends.
- Brand Management and External Communication
- Implement and oversee the operational execution of Tiko’s communications plan.
- Develop a variety of external communication materials to enhance brand awareness and reputation.
- Create compelling content for audiences, including those new to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, recruitment, and other departments to maintain a strategic and unified communication approach.
- Serve as a key expert in corporate communication, managing Tiko’s social media presence and producing engaging content.
- Content Creation and Storytelling
- Source and share compelling stories and content from different countries to support donor campaigns, case studies, and storytelling initiatives.
- Work closely with the Communications team to develop impactful narratives that enhance Tiko’s visibility and engagement.
- Capacity Building and Team Support
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the communications team and colleagues across Tiko globally.
- Conduct training and capacity-building sessions to enhance writing and presentation skills.
- Stay informed on global geopolitical changes and their impact on communication strategies.
- Event Management
- Lead the planning, organization, and execution of physical, hybrid, and online high-profile public and closed-door events.
- Manage event logistics, including budgeting, speaker invitations, and participant coordination.
- Develop promotional content and oversee post-event follow-ups.
- Additional Projects and Initiatives
- Participate in and contribute to other relevant projects as needed, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.
Consultant Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in communications, with a strong portfolio showcasing impactful work.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in event management support.
- Experience in managing public relations to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Knowledge and experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), with an understanding of its complexities and significance.
- Strong storytelling skills for engaging donors and fostering partnerships.
- Proficiency in digital design tools, video editing software, and other content creation applications.
- Experience in managing corporate social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter), including risk management strategies.
- Strong understanding of social media best practices and digital communication trends.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to balance assertiveness and diplomacy.
- Currently based in Nairobi, Kenya.
