About Candidate
Trevor Momanyi is a Kenyan-born writer, director, producer, and passionate advocate for storytelling that bridges worlds. Born and raised in Kenya, he easily weaves between the polished enclaves of high society and the vibrant pulse of the streets. Trevor draws from a deep well of lived experience, crafting narratives that feel raw, urgent, and true.
Guided by the cinematic philosophies of Denis Villeneuve, Alfonso Cuarón, Antoine Fuqua, Ryan Coogler, and Ridley Scott, Trevor believes in storytelling that transcends genre — where characters breathe, struggle, and redefine themselves against the backdrop of shifting societies. His work often wrestles with themes of identity, belonging, counterculture, and the quiet revolutions that shape human lives.
An alumnus of ADMI (African Digital media institute), the Some Fine Day Directors’ Lab 2024 and a contributor to award-winning television productions( KINA,JELA 5,THE WIVES) Trevor approaches filmmaking with both a craftsman’s discipline and an artist’s curiosity. For him, cinema is not just a mirror to the world, but a conversation with it — a way to inspire, educate, entertain, and provoke change.
At a time when the world is finally leaning in to listen, Trevor Momanyi’s voice is one that speaks boldly, passionately, and without apology.
