Job Description

Hey everyone!

We are inviting submissions for our fourth anthology – Qwani 04 (don’t ask us what happened to the third one) – which will focus on documenting the social and cultural relationship which the Gen-Z have with this urban space that is Nairobi.

To achieve this, we welcome pieces that focus on the following relationships:
1. Gen Z & Religion
2. Gen Z & Love in the city
3. Gen Z & Work
4. Gen Z & Urban Night life
5. Gen Z & Artistry
6. Gen Z & Language (Sheng)
7. Gen Z & Music
8. Gen Z & Fashion
9. Gen Z & Third Spaces
10. Different types of Gen Zs in Nairobi

This book hopes to answer these questions by showcasing the cultural lifestyle of the Gen-Z within the Nairobian landscape.

By sharing personal stories from participants, the book will illustrate the diverse motivations and backgrounds of the active youth
within the city.

We are accepting both literary and visual works, including:
– short stories
– poems
– essays
– reviews (music/art/film)
– narratives
– Sheng banter eg mchongoano, dedix, lyrics
– photographs
– visual art
– caricatures
– comic strips

and anything crazy, really!!

The submission window/period runs from 5th July 2025 – August 5th 2025.

Submissions are to be made through the Google Forms which is on the home page of our website (www.qwani.co.ke).

Responses to the submissions will be made at the end of August.
