Job Description

HumAngle is excited to announce an open call for investigative report pitches focusing on accountability in the BAY states of Northeastern Nigeria (namely, Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe). We are interested in reports that delve into such issues as governance, bribery and corruption, abandoned projects, wasteful spending of public resources, mismanagement of humanitarian assistance, diversion of aid, and sexual violence — especially in ways that connect directly or indirectly to the ongoing insurgency.

What we are looking for:

In-depth investigations: Stories that go beyond the surface to uncover the truth.
Accountability: Reports that hold individuals, organisations, and institutions accountable for their actions.
Human impact: Narratives that highlight the experiences and voices of those affected by the issues.
The stories can come in various formats: text, audiovisual, or interactive. Journalists resident across Nigeria are welcome to apply.

Deadline: Rolling. (We will close the window for applications on September 30, 2024, or once we receive enough quality proposals.)

We look forward to receiving your insightful and impactful proposals that will contribute to greater transparency and accountability in the region.
