Job Description
Futurelect is seeking a dynamic and highly driven Programmes Intern to join our growing team. The Programmes Intern will play a vital role in supporting the development and delivery of and driving continuous improvement in programmatic work at Futurelect. The Programmes Intern will support the operations of Futurelect’s programmes in the Southern Africa region.
About Futurelect
Founded in 2018 in Johannesburg, Futurelect is a non-profit and public benefit organisation dedicated to transforming political and government leadership across Africa. We are committed to equipping a new generation of young, ethical leaders in Africa with the skills and knowledge required to serve their communities effectively, responsibly and with integrity.
Our non-partisan leadership programmes are designed to cultivate diverse, highly skilled political leaders who will improve government and strengthen democracy across the continent. They primarily target young African women aged 18-45 who are either already on a path to political or public office leadership or aspire to assume these roles.
Futurelect also offers an online Civic Education Programme in South Africa, providing access to independently peer-reviewed, nonpartisan courses on democracy and governance. It is primarily targeted at South Africans aged 16-34 and is freely accessible and beneficial to all
Responsibilities and Duties:

Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Futurelect’s programme offering in collaboration with the Programme Officer and Regional Head of Programmes – Southern Africa;

Assisting with the updating of the online Learning Management System and assisting new programme participants and alumni with onboarding;

Assisting in ensuring the smooth running of projects by keeping project management trackers up to date;

Researches, analyses, and presents information from diverse sources concerning civic education, governance and political trends in the regions in which Futurelect operates and any other topics relevant to Futurelect’s work;

Supporting the Programme Officer and Regional Head of Programmes in research for the regional Public Leadership Programme seminars – including, but not limited to, acquiring reading materials and additional learning materials;

Supporting any in-person activations on civic education and the train-the-trainer programme;

Supporting the launch and execution of new Futurelect programmes in collaboration with the Regional Head of Programmes and regional team members.
General:

Assisting in the management of all stakeholder relationships;

Thoroughness and accuracy in all tasks – including planning and organising time and resources efficiently;

General office administration and team support.
Minimum Requirements:
Non-negotiable Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Political Studies, or equivalent – Honours degree advantageous;
-
Proficient in Google Suite, Keynote (creating, updating, managing, and coordinating presentations for events), Zoom, Monday.com, Trello, Asana, etc.
