About Sekoya East Africa
Sekoya East Africa, a non-profit organization, is on a mission of empowering artists to build sustainable careers by provision of professional resources, skills development training, mentorship and peer support. Our work is grounded in making the arts accessible and affordable for communities to tap into creativity for economic, social and personal growth.
As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to support vibrant events, engage in outreach and promotion, and provide essential administrative assistance. This is a chance to make a positive impact, fostering connections and a sense of belonging within a diverse community. Please note that we are a growing non-profit organization and currently have no compensation for volunteers.

Areas of need:
- Project coordination – lead the development and execution of art projects and programs
- Events management – assist in planning and running logistics for events and programs
- Social media and content creation – developing content and running digital media accounts.
- Fundraising and revenue development – strengthening our revenue generation efforts and social entrepreneurship methods as a non-profit
- Website development and management – design, update, and maintain a user-friendly website that reflects our vision
- Craft and merchandise marketing – creation, promotion, and sale of handmade products to raise funds
- Sponsorships and partnerships – Build and maintain strategic relationships with organizations to secure sponsorships and drive revenue growth.
Volunteer requirements (Please note that this are mandatory, only apply if you meet requirements)
- Available to volunteer 10-15 hours weekly between now and December 2025 (hours may vary)
- At least 6 months experience in area of interest or equivalent skill training (informal training/ internship/ previous volunteer/ personal project experience is accepted)
- Available for monthly Sekoya events, usually on Saturdays or Sundays and typically 1-3 each month. Mandatory attendance of 2/3 is required to qualify and schedules are provided in advance.
- Available to attend in-person prep meetings/ run logistics for each event (usually 1 day for each event)
- Available for weekly team meetings which happen on Wednesdays (or Thursdays) at 7pm
- Artists of any genre encouraged to apply, but positions are open to professionals working in other fields
- Based in Nairobi and environs as our programs are currently in-person in Nairobi. Some weekday availability/ flexibility for tasks will be prioritized.
- Access to internet for meetings and some volunteer duties
