Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Video Editor to join our dynamic team for a full time role. This individual will play a crucial role in post-production video editing, creating engaging and effective video assets that resonate with our target audiences and drive purchases for ecommerce brands. The ideal candidate will have a blend of creative talent, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of ecommerce marketing.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in video editing within the ecommerce marketing space, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Demonstrated proficiency in video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, and Davinci.
- Solid understanding of key metrics like hook rate, hold rate, and click through rate, and expertise in creating short-form direct response videos.
- A background in creative strategy is highly advantageous.
- Agency experience is a plus
- Experience using AI tools like Higgsfield, Claude, ChatGPT, and others
- BONUS: If you can create your own videos based on the brand data (winners, angles, content that’s working) - we pay out bonuses for this type of work
- Fluency in English is required.

- You need to be a self-starter. You will be given the creative freedom to create winning assets and data from the brands you work on.
Overview:
As part of the ACTIV agency, you play a crucial role in shaping the visual storytelling and narrative of our ecommerce clients. Your expertise in video editing will be instrumental in creating compelling content that not only reflects the essence of each brand but also drives new customer acquisition at scale. Given the remote nature of your role, we value independence, communication, and the ability to manage time effectively across different time zones.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Video Editing: You will be responsible for editing raw footage into polished content for Meta & TikTok. This involves cutting hooks effectively, creating a cohesive story through the video content, and making the video engaging and effective to drive higher thumb stop rates (staying past the first 3 seconds), longer hold times (watching for at least 15 seconds), and high click through rates.
- Collaboration: Regularly collaborate with the creative team, including directors, content creators, and other editors, to align on the creative vision and ensure that the final products meet or exceed client expectations. Communication will primarily be via digital platforms, including Slack, and once a week video calls via Slack.
- Creative Input: Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve content quality during brainstorming sessions and creative meetings. Your input on the creative direction, storytelling elements, and visual style is highly valued.
- Project Management: Manage your video editing projects from conception to delivery, ensuring that all content is completed within the agreed timelines and adheres to the client's brand guidelines. This includes prioritizing tasks, setting milestones, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
- Quality Control: Ensure all videos meet ACTIV’s quality standards and are optimized for viewing on Meta & TikTok.
- Technical Proficiency: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of video editing software and technologies, suggesting upgrades or new tools as necessary to keep our content cutting-edge. ACTIV can and will provide you with additional software access when needed and necessary to do your job better.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Given your remote location and the flexible working hours, adaptability to the needs of the team and projects across time zones is essential. You must be willing to adjust your working hours when needed to meet critical deadlines or collaborate with the team.
Working Hours:
- This position offers flexible working hours to accommodate the difference in time zones between Eastern Standard Time (New York, USA) and your time zone. We expect a reasonable overlap with the team's working hours for meetings and collaborative sessions but will work together to establish a schedule that suits everyone.
Expectations:
- Maintain open and consistent communication with your team and direct report.
- Deliver high-quality video content within specified deadlines.
- Be proactive in addressing challenges or delays that may impact project timelines.
Tools and Software:
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and other relevant video editing software is expected.
Compensation:
The Video Editor role is a dynamic position with the opportunity to significantly impact the success of our e-commerce clients through compelling video content. Recognizing the importance of this role, we offer competitive compensation packages for a full time role:
- Compensation: Compensation is dependent on location of hire and competitive pay for the region the video editor is in. You will be asked your expected range of pay in your job application.
- Note: Though output will be measured and managed, quality is essential. This is why we created a bonus structure that supports higher quality content that can scale spend behind it, versus creating a lot of content that may not scale spend behind it.

This role will be a full time role with expectations that we will provide you with the resources to succeed. This growth path is supported by a clear compensation and bonus structure that rewards high performance and the achievement of key milestones in ad spend supported by the content produced.

You will then be asked to do a short project that displays your work with a loose brief and video resources provided showing your ability to take a brief and create a strong video creative from it. Once we review your video, we will set up an interview to the qualified candidates and then if you meet our standards then we would make a job offer.
