blueberryafrica is looking for a Web Developer to join our team and build high-quality websites and digital platforms for NGOs, think tanks, research institutions and mission-driven organizations across Africa. 📍 Nairobi, Kenya 💼 Experience: Proven experience delivering websites, whether independently, in-house or through an agency/client environment. The role You’ll be responsible for taking websites from development through to launch and supporting clients after deployment. This will include: • Developing responsive, mobile-first websites from Figma designs, wireframes and other approved layouts • Working with WordPress, custom development or other appropriate frameworks depending on the project • Connecting websites to tools such as forms, newsletters, analytics, payment systems, M-Pesa and other third-party platforms • Setting up staging environments, testing functionality and preparing sites for launch • Developing reusable templates and content structures that clients can easily manage • Identifying and resolving technical issues, bugs and performance problems • Providing reasonable technical support after websites go live. What you bring We’re looking for someone who has: ✔️ Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills ✔️ Hands-on WordPress experience, plus experience with at least one other development stack or framework ✔️ Working knowledge of PHP ✔️ The ability to turn designs and wireframes into polished, production-ready websites ✔️ Strong understanding of responsive and mobile-first development ✔️ Familiarity with technical SEO, accessibility and website performance ✔️ Good project management skills and the ability to work across multiple client deadlines ✔️ The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients and teams Experience working on websites for NGOs, research organizations, campaigns, media companies or podcast platforms will also be an advantage.
